Organizations like SparkYouth grantee Harlem Grown have been forced to adapt their programming in order to address changing circumstances brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Noticing how the pandemic has increased barriers to accessing healthy food for its Harlem community, Harlem Grown has launched HG Meals to provide homeless families with hot nutritious meals 3 times a week. HG Meals will also support local businesses by partnering with a local restaurant each month. For the month of April, they have partnered with Chef JJ (pictured below with Harlem Grown ED Tony Hillery) at FieldTrip.

Harlem Grown has also moved their programming online and now provide weekly educational videos on nutrition and sustainable practices young people can do at home. They have also been able to distribute freshly harvested greens through partner schools open for grab and go meals. Despite the devastating conditions, Harlem Grown continues to inspire youth and positively impact their community.
